I wanted to come up with a fun/cute title for how Harmony Wellness & Yoga Center (HYWC) got started; but then I realized I don’t need to overcomplicate this. This is our story…
Harmony Wellness & Yoga Center officially launched on April 1, 2024; but the roots of this venture began years before Lydia and I ever met. You’ll read more about our individual journeys in upcoming posts; this is a more recent account of how we met and how HWYC came to be.
Our meeting was divine timing… How else can you explain two strangers who both grew up in Kansas, leading two separate lives (Lydia as a member of the military; Bobbi as a military wife), traveling all over, then both ending up in a tiny Midwest town of 1,000 people? (Damn if that’s not a run-on sentence.)
October 5, 2023: Lydia attended her first class at KALME Yoga Studio, a Mindful Flow on a Thursday night. Within a week, she’d signed up for the monthly unlimited option and became a staple in the studio.
October 14, 2023: I held a New Moon Yoga + Ritual at the studio. There were four of us, total, that evening and something magical happened, the beginnings of a connection. After this event, we’d spend the better part of an hour chatting after every yoga class. We realized we both had a dream of a wellness center in our little area; we felt a similar pull to help other people find their joy, their purpose, their authentic selves.
November 15, 2023: Lydia moved her business, Questions Authority Coaching, into KALME Yoga Studio. We were still working our businesses separately at that point; but it was nice to share space (and ideas!) with someone.
I’d like to {insert a fun quote} about something coming to an end so that something else can begin, but I’m not the girl who remembers quotes like that. Lydia and I seem to regularly have realizations at the same time; and while we both really loved what we’d already created (Bobbi: Joyfully Empowered & KALME Yoga Studio / Lydia: Questions Authority Coaching), we decided at the same time that we were ready to just focus on our venture together. That meant putting our previous businesses to rest. This has been bittersweet. We’re learning to let go while allowing our next {awesome} path to bloom.
We have so many (really, like so many) ideas for building this community, all with the intention of bringing people together in SE Minnesota (with an online community launching soonish as well). We also recognize that, while we wish we could implement our ideas right now, we have to listen to our bodies. So, we’re building as we can; like I said, we’re in this with you. We want to help others listen to their bodies; and we will model that as much as we can.
